Why take a typing test?
Job requirements
Banks, government offices and data entry roles often test typing speed and accuracy.
Accuracy counts
Speed means little with many mistakes, so the result shows both.
Practise often
Short daily practice improves your speed quickly.
Frequently asked questions
How is WPM calculated?
Net WPM counts the correct characters you typed, divided by five (one word is five characters), divided by the minutes taken. Mistakes you leave uncorrected do not count.
What is a good typing speed?
Around 40 WPM is average. Many clerical jobs ask for 35 to 45 WPM, and data entry roles often ask for more, with high accuracy.
Can I use a phone?
Yes, but results are usually slower than on a keyboard. For job practice, use a computer keyboard.
Is Typing Speed Test really free to use?
Yes. It is completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit.
Is my information safe?
Yes. This tool works entirely inside your browser, so what you type is never sent to our servers. Anything saved for next time stays in your own browser only.
Do I need to install any software?
No. EduJobs Toolkit works in any modern browser on your phone, tablet or computer. Nothing to download or install.
