Is the hidden text really removed?
Yes. Every page that has a marked area is turned into a flat picture with the black boxes burned in. The original text and pictures under the boxes do not exist in the new file, so they cannot be copied or found.
Why is the text on redacted pages not selectable?
That is the price of true redaction. The pages become pictures. Pages without any marks keep their normal text. You can run the OCR PDF tool afterwards if you need it searchable.
What does “find automatically” look for?
Email addresses, phone numbers (Nigerian and international), 11-digit numbers like BVN and NIN, dates, web links and any words or phrases you type. It reads the real text of the page, so it cannot see words inside scanned pictures. For those, draw the boxes by hand.
Can I mark the same place on every page?
Yes. Draw a box, then use the “all pages” button on it. This is handy for headers, footers and logos.
Is a black box drawn in a PDF editor enough?
No. In most editors the text stays under the box and can still be copied. That is why this tool rebuilds the page.
Is my file uploaded?
