Frequently asked questions

What CGPA do I need for First Class in Nigeria?

On the 5.0 scale it is 4.50 to 5.00. On the 4.0 scale it is 3.50 to 4.00. Check your school’s handbook, because a few schools use slightly different cut-offs.

What CGPA is Second Class Upper (2:1)?

Usually 3.50 to 4.49 on the 5.0 scale, and 3.00 to 3.49 on the 4.0 scale.

How does the “what do I need” table work?

It works out the average GPA you must score in your remaining credit units so that your final CGPA reaches the lowest point of each class. If the answer is above the maximum GPA, that class cannot be reached any more.

Do you round my CGPA?

Your CGPA is rounded to two decimal places before the class is picked, which is how most schools report it.
