Why use this Protect PDF?

Real AES encryption

Your file is locked with the same AES-256 standard used by banks. It is not a fake lock that can be skipped.

For students and applicants

Protect result slips, certificates, ID scans and application forms before you send them by email or WhatsApp.

For offices and businesses

Protect payslips, contracts and invoices. You can also stop people from printing or copying the content.

Frequently asked questions

What kind of encryption does this use?

It uses standard PDF encryption from the qpdf engine. AES-256 is the default and AES-128 is available for very old PDF readers. After encrypting, the tool checks the result and shows you which method was used.

What if I forget the password?

There is no way to get it back. The password never leaves your device and we do not keep a copy. Save it in a password manager or write it down somewhere safe before you send the file.

What is the difference between the open password and the owner password?

The open password is needed to view the PDF. The owner password controls the permissions (printing, copying, editing). If you set permissions but no owner password, we create a random one for you and show it on the result screen.

Do the permission settings really stop people copying or printing?

Most PDF apps, including Chrome, Adobe Reader and phone viewers, respect them. But permissions are only a request. Special tools can remove them. Only the open password gives real protection, so use one for anything private.

Can I protect many PDFs at once?

Yes. Add as many files as you like. They all get the same password and settings, and you can download them together as one ZIP file.

Can I protect a PDF that already has a password?

Yes. We will ask for its current password, and then replace it with the new one.

Is Protect PDF really free to use?

Yes. It is completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit.

Is my file safe?

Yes. This tool works entirely inside your browser, so your file is never uploaded to our servers. It is cleared from memory when you close or refresh the page.

Do I need to install any software?

No. EduJobs Toolkit works in any modern browser on your phone, tablet or computer. Nothing to download or install.
