Frequently asked questions
Will the Word file look exactly like my PDF?
It keeps headings, bold and italic text, bullet and numbered lists, tables, pictures, alignment and page size. Very complex designs (magazine layouts, text wrapped around pictures, special fonts) may need small touch-ups. If you want a visual copy, choose “Page snapshots + text”.
Can I convert a scanned PDF or a photo of a document?
Yes. Turn on “Read scanned pages with OCR”, pick the language (English, French, Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo or Arabic) and the text is recognised and made editable. The first scan downloads a small language file, so allow a few seconds. Clear scans give the best results.
What are the conversion modes?
“Smart editable” rebuilds paragraphs, headings, lists and tables. “Text only” gives clean plain text with no pictures or tables. “Page snapshots + text” puts a picture of each page above the extracted text, so nothing is lost.
My PDF has a password. What do I do?
You will be asked for the password when you add the file. If it is only locked against editing and copying, use our PDF Unlock tool first.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. It runs in your mobile browser. For very large PDFs (more than 100 pages), use a computer or convert a page range at a time.
Is PDF to Word really free to use?
Yes. It is completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit.
Is my file safe?
Yes. This tool works entirely inside your browser, so your file is never uploaded to our servers. It is cleared from memory when you close or refresh the page.
Do I need to install any software?
No. EduJobs Toolkit works in any modern browser on your phone, tablet or computer. Nothing to download or install.
