Frequently asked questions
How is CGPA calculated?
Multiply each course’s credit units by its grade point, add them all up (quality points), then divide by the total credit units. For example, 3 units with an A (5 points) gives 15 quality points.
What is the difference between GPA and CGPA?
GPA is for one semester. CGPA (cumulative GPA) covers every semester so far, weighted by credit units.
Why is my result different from my school’s?
Some schools use different score ranges for grades, count carry-over or repeat courses in their own way, or round differently. Check your school’s grading policy, and use the scores option if your grade boundaries are the usual ones.
Should failed courses be included?
Yes, if your school counts them. Enter the course with an F (0 points). When you repeat it, remove the old entry or follow your school’s rule on which grade counts.
Can I include my old CGPA?
Yes. Open “Start from my existing CGPA” and enter your CGPA and total units so far. New semesters are added on top.
Is CGPA Calculator really free to use?
Yes. It is completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit.
