Frequently asked questions

How does the comparison work?

Pages are drawn side by side in your browser. Pixels that differ are coloured, and the text of each page is compared word by word.

What do the colours mean?

Red is something that was in the original but is gone. Green is something new in the changed file. Faded grey is what stayed the same.

Do the PDFs need the same number of pages?

No. Pages are matched by number. Extra pages are shown as added or removed.

Why does it show small changes I cannot see?

Tiny shifts can happen when a file is saved by a different program. Lower the sensitivity to ignore them.

Does it work on scanned PDFs?

The picture comparison does. The text comparison needs real text, so for scans run the OCR PDF tool first.

Is my file uploaded?

No. Both files stay in your browser.

Is Compare PDF really free to use?

Yes. It is completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit.

Is my file safe?

Yes. This tool works entirely inside your browser, so your file is never uploaded to our servers. It is cleared from memory when you close or refresh the page.

Do I need to install any software?

No. EduJobs Toolkit works in any modern browser on your phone, tablet or computer. Nothing to download or install.
