How to compress a PDF to 50 KB
- Add your PDF in the box above. It stays on your device.
- Check that Target size is selected and set to 50 KB.
- Press compress, check the preview, and download the file.
The tool lowers the quality in small steps and stops at the best result that is below 50 KB. If a file is already smaller than the target, it is kept as it is.
When you need a PDF under 50 KB
A limit this small is usually set for a single page, such as a signed declaration, an ID page or a short certificate. Always follow the limit written on the portal you are using, because it can change.
Text pages can stay readable. A scanned page often needs Maximum compression and the black and white option.
Tips to reach 50 KB
- Compress one page at a time. Split a long document first with the Split PDF tool.
- Scans are the main problem. Scan at 150 dpi in black and white instead of colour.
- Turn on grayscale in the options if the document has no important colours.
- If the file still will not fit, resize the photo or stamp inside it before you make the PDF.

Frequently asked questions
Can I compress a PDF to 50 KB without losing quality?
Some loss is normal when a file is made much smaller. For text documents the loss is hard to see. For scans, the tool picks the highest quality that still fits below 50 KB. Check the preview before you upload.
What if my PDF is still above 50 KB?
The tool shows the smallest result it could make. Try Maximum compression, turn on black and white, remove unneeded pages, or split the file into parts and upload them separately if the portal allows it.
Does the page count change the final size?
Yes. More pages mean more data. A one-page file reaches 50 KB much more easily than a ten-page scan.
How do I compress a PDF to 1 MB or 2 MB?
Choose “Target size”, type the size you want, and press Compress. The tool tries stronger and stronger settings until your file fits. If it cannot reach the target, it tells you and gives you the smallest result it could make.
What is the difference between Smart and Maximum compression?
Smart keeps your text sharp and selectable and only shrinks the pictures inside the PDF. Maximum turns every page into a compressed picture. It gives the smallest files, especially for scans, but the text can no longer be selected or searched.
Why did the file size not change?
Files that are mostly text or already compressed have little left to remove. When a result is not smaller, we keep your original so you never get a bigger file. Try Maximum compression or a lower quality.
Will compressing reduce the quality?
Pictures lose a little detail, which is how files get smaller. Medium keeps documents easy to read on screen and when printed. Use Low compression for photos you want to keep sharp.
Can I compress several PDFs at once?
Yes. Add as many PDFs as you like, compress them together and download all of them in one ZIP file.
Can I compress other file types besides PDF?
This tool is for PDF files only. To shrink a photo, convert it to a PDF with our JPG to PDF tool and use the quality setting there.
Is Compress PDF to 50 KB really free to use?
Yes. It is completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit.
Is my file safe?
Yes. This tool works entirely inside your browser, so your file is never uploaded to our servers. It is cleared from memory when you close or refresh the page.
Do I need to install any software?
No. EduJobs Toolkit works in any modern browser on your phone, tablet or computer. Nothing to download or install.
