JAMB and WAEC have started charging a one-off N4,000 fee for candidates to verify their WAEC O’level result before admission. The new arrangement took effect on September 1, 2026. Before now, a candidate could end up paying for the same WAEC result to be verified again and again, once by JAMB, then again by whichever school they got admission into. That’s what this new one-off payment is meant to stop.
About this new one-off verification arrangement
JAMB and WAEC put out a joint statement on this. It was signed by WAEC’s Head of Public Affairs, Moyosola Adesina. The two bodies said candidates whose admission is processed through JAMB will now verify their WAEC result just once, through JAMB. After that one verification, JAMB sends the result to whatever institution the candidate is trying to get into. No school is allowed to ask that candidate to pay for another round of verification on the same result. Institutions have been told to just use the result JAMB already verified.
So if you’re worried about your school of choice asking you to verify your WAEC result again after you’ve already paid JAMB, that shouldn’t happen anymore. If it does, that’s the school going against what JAMB and WAEC have agreed on.
Who this N4,000 fee is for
This fee applies to you if your admission is being processed through JAMB. That covers most candidates trying to get into a Nigerian university, polytechnic, or college of education through the regular JAMB/UTME admission process for the 2026/2027 session.
- You presented a WASSCE or other O’level result as part of your JAMB admission requirements.
- Maybe your school or department has asked JAMB to verify that result before your admission can be confirmed. That’s when this comes up.
- Not verified before for this same result? Then this applies to you too.
If none of that applies to you yet, you likely don’t need to worry about this fee right now. But once your school asks for verification, this is the process and the amount you should expect.
Important dates and amount to know
| What | Detail |
|---|---|
| New verification fee | N4,000 (one-off) |
| Arrangement takes effect | September 1, 2026 |
| Admission cycle it applies to | 2026/2027 |
| Who to pay | Only through the JAMB Verification Service platform |
Do not pay this N4,000 to any school staff, agent, or individual. JAMB and WAEC said clearly that the fee must go through the official JAMB Verification Service platform, nowhere else. Anybody collecting this money outside that platform is not doing it the right way, and you could lose your money with nothing to show for it.
How to pay and verify your WAEC result on JAMB

This is the actual process, based on how JAMB has set it up on the e-Facility portal.
- Log in to your JAMB e-Facility account with your registered email and password.
- Look for the O’Level or Result Verification service on your dashboard.
- Enter your details correctly: examination body (WAEC), your exam number, and your number of sittings.
- Pay the N4,000 through the payment option JAMB provides on that page. Don’t try to pay any other way.
- JAMB will give you an O’Level Verification Code after payment.
- Send VERIFY, then your code, to 55019 or 66019, using the phone number linked to your JAMB profile.
- If you sat for WAEC more than once (two sittings), go back to your e-Facility profile and select which subjects from which sitting you want to use for your admission.
Small delays can happen on the portal, especially when a lot of candidates are trying to verify at once. So don’t wait until the very last day your school gives you before you start this.
[LOCAL TIP: add a real detail here from your own experience helping students verify results on the JAMB portal, like what time of day the portal is less busy, or a common mistake candidates make when entering exam numbers]
What happens after you complete verification
Once your verification goes through, JAMB keeps that record and shares it with the institution admitting you. You shouldn’t need to repeat this for the same result, whether it’s the same school or a different one, as long as it’s still going through JAMB. Keep your verification code and any confirmation message safe though. If there’s ever a dispute or your school’s admission office says they don’t see it, having proof that you paid and verified will save you stress.
Also check your JAMB e-Facility profile from time to time during your admission process. That’s where you’ll see if verification is still pending, done, or if there’s an issue JAMB wants you to fix.
TL;DR: JAMB and WAEC now charge one payment of N4,000 to verify your WAEC O’level result, effective September 1, 2026, for the 2026/2027 admission cycle. Pay only through the JAMB Verification Service platform on your e-Facility account, never to any school or individual directly. Once verified, no institution should ask you to pay again for the same result.
