JAMB Opens SIM Swap and Email Change for Candidates Who Lost Access to Their Phone Number or Email (2026)
JAMB now allows candidates who lost their registered phone number or email to change it. See the steps, what to prepare, and the once-only rule.jamb-sim-swap-email-change-2026
JAMB has opened SIM swap and email change for candidates who lost access to the phone number or email on their profile. It started on Monday, September 21, 2026, and you can use it only once.
Before now, JAMB did not allow these changes at all. The reason was security. Someone could change your details and take over your profile or mess with your admission record. JAMB says its stronger identity and biometric checks now make it safe to allow, so long as the case is real.
About the JAMB SIM swap and email change update
“SIM swap” here just means changing the phone number on your JAMB profile. It has nothing to do with your network line. You can change the phone number only, the email only, or both together.

| Start date | Monday, September 21, 2026 |
| Who it is for | Candidates who really lost access to their registered phone number or email |

Who is eligible for the JAMB SIM swap and email change
- You lost the SIM card linked to your JAMB profile.
- You can no longer get into the email on your profile, and you can’t recover it either.
- Both are gone. That’s fine, you can change both in one go.
Just want a different number or email because you feel like it? That’s not what this is for. JAMB says genuine cases only.
What to prepare before you go for the JAMB SIM swap or email change
- Your new phone number and/or new email address. Use one you will keep, and one that works.
- A court affidavit, scanned and ready for upload.
- Your login details for the e-Facility portal. This can be your email, registration number or profile code, so if the old email is the one you lost, use the registration number or profile code.
- Your profile code or your old phone number. The centre will ask for it.
- Money for the fee. JAMB’s notice says “prescribed fee” and does not state the amount, so check the amount on your e-Facility before you pay.
- Yourself. The biometric check is done at the centre, so you have to show up.
You can only do this once. Check the new number and email twice before you click Update. If you type a wrong digit, there is no second try.
How to do the JAMB SIM swap and email change step by step
JAMB listed seven steps.
- Log into your e-Facility profile with your existing email, registration number or profile code.
- Select “SIM Swap/eMail Change Payment” from the menu and pay the fee.
- Go to a designated JAMB CBT (PTC/PRC) centre and open the SIM Swap/eMail Change Quicklink.
- Enter your profile code or your old phone number, then click “Fetch Details”.
- Do the biometric verification. After that, pick what you want to change: phone number only, email only, or both.
- Enter the new phone number and/or email, upload the scanned affidavit, and click “Update”.
- A confirmation message shows when it is done.
One small difference to watch for. JAMB’s written notice calls the menu “SIM Swap/eMail Change Payment”. In JAMB’s step-by-step video, you go to “Penalties” first and then choose “SIM Swap/Email Change Penalty Payment”. If you don’t see the first one on your dashboard, look under Penalties.
Also, do the affidavit before the payment. You pay on the portal first, then go to the centre, and the affidavit must be ready when you get there. No need to pay and then start running around for court papers.
About the court affidavit for the JAMB SIM swap and email change
JAMB’s written notice only says “duly executed court affidavit”. The video says it should be from a High Court. To be safe, get it from a High Court.
The affidavit is there to show you lost access to the phone number or email. So make sure it says that clearly, and says which one you lost. Then scan it and keep the file ready.
[LOCAL TIP: add a real detail from your own experience, like what an affidavit costs at the High Court in your area, or how busy the JAMB office gets]
Why you should fix your JAMB phone number and email before November 30
JAMB gave candidates with outstanding admission offers from 2021 to 2025 until November 30, 2026 to accept or reject them on CAPS. After that date, any offer you did not accept or reject goes back to “Not Admitted”. And if you try to update it after the deadline, you pay a penalty fee.
So if a lost phone or email is what’s keeping you out of your profile, sort it out now. Don’t wait till November and then find out the centre is full of people with the same problem.
Warning about agents who offer JAMB SIM swap and email change
JAMB told candidates not to use unauthorised persons or channels. It says the service is only at its designated centres, so cybercafés and agents are not part of the process.
If someone offers to do it for you somewhere else, they are not following JAMB’s process. Your profile holds your admission record, so don’t hand it to a stranger
- Started on September 21, 2026. Once only.
- For candidates who lost their registered phone number, email, or both.
- Get a court affidavit (High Court, per JAMB’s video), scan it, then pay on e-Facility.
- Go to a designated JAMB CBT (PTC/PRC) centre or state office for biometric verification and the update.
- Fee amount is not stated by JAMB. Check it on your e-Facility.
- Fix it early if you have a 2021 to 2025 admission offer, since the CAPS deadline is November 30, 2026.
