I can still remember In late 2022, Adam from Kaduna messaged me after six months of unpaid internships. He was tired, broke, and not too happy. I still remember his exact words: “Musa, experience no dey feed person o.” He was right.

I told him something many young Nigerians don’t realize early enough: some internships in Nigeria now pay better than certain full-time jobs.

Three months later, he landed one in Lagos earning over ₦180,000 monthly.

So if you still think internships must mean free labour, old plastic chair, and “we will call you,” you are using outdated information.

This updated guide combines my earlier list with fresh verified opportunities readers are talking about now.

Where These High-Paying Internships Usually Come From

The highest-paying internships in Nigeria usually come from five places: government-backed programmes, multinational companies, banks, consulting firms, and fast-growing tech companies.

That means names like MTN, Shell, Chevron, PwC, KPMG, Access Bank, Flutterwave, Cowrywise, and NJFP.

Depending on company, department, and city, some stipends range from ₦150,000 to ₦350,000+ monthly.

Always verify on the official portal before applying.

1. Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme (NJFP) 2.0

This is one of the biggest structured paid opportunities for graduates in Nigeria.

It was launched through collaboration involving the Federal Government, development partners, and private sector employers. It places graduates into real work environments for 12 months.

Monthly Stipend: ₦150,000

Typical Eligibility:
Nigerian citizen, age 30 or below, B.Sc/HND holder, NYSC completed or exempted, unemployed during application.

This programme became popular for one reason: it gives both income and experience.

2. Cowrywise Paid Internship for Women

This opportunity gained attention because it focuses on women interested in finance and technology.

Cowrywise has been linked with internship openings around ₦150,000 monthly, depending on cohort and role.

If you are female and interested in fintech, business operations, growth, or finance, keep an eye on them.

3. Oil & Gas Internships (Often the Highest Paying)

Many graduates wrongly assume only petroleum engineers qualify here.

That is false.

Companies like Shell, Chevron, TotalEnergies, and service firms sometimes recruit interns in finance, admin, supply chain, HR, data analysis, and communications.

Some reported stipends fall between ₦150,000 and ₦350,000+ monthly.

4. Fintech and Tech Internships

This sector moves fast.

Companies like Flutterwave, Paystack, Moniepoint, Kuda, Interswitch, and others sometimes pay strongly for interns in software engineering, product management, customer success, compliance, and analytics.

Not every role crosses ₦150k, but many serious ones do.

5. Banking & Consulting Firms

Do not ignore banks and audit firms.

Tier-1 banks like GTBank, Zenith Bank, Access Bank, and firms like Deloitte, PwC, EY, and KPMG often run internship or trainee pathways with competitive monthly pay.

Sometimes the money is not publicly stated, but insiders know many packages are respectable.

What Nobody Tells You

Most people lose these opportunities before they apply.

They wait for copied blog posts, late WhatsApp broadcasts, or random Telegram screenshots.

Serious candidates track official websites, LinkedIn pages, and career portals directly.

By the time gossip reaches the group chat, thousands are already ahead of you.

Practical Steps to Get One Fast

  1. Rewrite your CV into one clean page.
  2. Open LinkedIn job alerts for “Internship Nigeria.”
  3. Check NJFP and company career pages every week.
  4. Learn Excel, Power BI, SQL, Canva, or coding.
  5. Apply within first 24–48 hours.
  6. Practice aptitude tests early.
  7. Build a simple LinkedIn profile with real projects.

Final Word

A paying internship can fund rent, transport, certifications, and confidence.

It can also become your first real career break.

If you are tired of unpaid work, I understand deeply. But don’t stop now. There are still internships that pay over ₦150,000/month in Nigeria right now.

Somebody less prepared than you is applying today. Don’t hand them your chance.
